Subtitling

AS A live subtitler I NEED TO receive incoming audio and video and create an output stream of subtitles with a recorded time relationship to this input media SO THAT I can match the timing of the incoming audio for later synchronisation.
AS A playout provider I NEED TO create a live stream of subtitles derived from a prepared subtitle file, with a recorded time relationship to streams of audio and video SO THAT they can be correctly synchronised for presentation.
AS A playout provider or encoding provider I NEED TO be able to switch between incoming streams of subtitles without introducing discontinuities SO THAT I can produce a single consistent output for a particular service. (e.g. transferring between prepared and live subtitles.)
AS AN encoding provider I NEED TO be able to associate multiple subtitle streams with the same audio and video. (e.g. SO THAT I can produce multiple renditions of the same programme for different languages)
AS A subtitle improver I NEED TO be able to process and modify subtitles whilst retaining the synchronisation relationship with the related audio and video SO THAT I can produce improved subtitle streams which remain synchronised with co-timed content. (For example to analyse the video and manipulate the subtitles to ensure that the subtitle positions do not obscure faces).

Pre-Production

AS A content producer I NEED TO relate media clips to pre-production planning story elements (scripts) SO THAT I can speed up the shot selection and editing process (*)
AS A content producer I NEED TO associate media clips with additional production notes captured during the production process (e.g. scene and take number, talkback, good take/bad take info) SO THAT I can quickly access these notes during the post-production process (*)
AS A content producer I NEED TO be able to associate pre-production data (call lists, actor contracts etc) with media elements SO THAT I can automate the rights tracking processes (*)

(*) We don't want to expand the scope of this activity to include identification of pre-production assets such as scripts and notes, however this activity should still provide sufficiently identifiable units of media to enable pre-production metadata to be associated with it.
